Australia’s New South Wales region includes Mount Druitt as a suburb of Sydney. It is a part of the Greater Western Sydney region and is situated 38 kilometres (24 miles) west of the Sydney CBD in the local government area of the City of Blacktown.
Smaller, encompassing suburbs including Bidwill, Blackett, Dharruk, Emerton, Hebersham, Lethbridge Park, Minchinbury, Whalan, Shalvey, Tregear, and Willmot are all close by.
The Mount Druitt municipality was served by Mount Druitt Village, a somewhat modest shopping district
In 1975, when the railway station was also moved and a sizable bus/rail interchange was constructed, a new shopping centre, locally referred to as “The Great Western,” was inaugurated some 500 metres to the east. The shopping centre, which is now known as Westfield Mount Druitt, was taken over by the Westfield business and is situated at the intersection of Carlisle Avenue and Luxford Road, two important local thoroughfares. Over 200 stores, from discount department stores to specialty stores, can be found in the complex. Another shopping centre in the neighbourhood is called Shopsmart. Other amenities include a hospital, coffee shops, small pubs, a council-run swimming pool, and a library are all close by and accessible on foot from the train station.
A Blacktown council redevelopment plan governs the region.
A large portion of the Housing Commission has been sold to developers, and the neighbourhood is now being rehabilitated with mixed-use complexes. In the Chinese, Thai, and Filipino communities, the region is rapidly gaining popularity. because of the accessibility, top-notch parks, schools, and transportation.
On the North Shore, Northern & Western Line of the Sydney Trains system is the Mount Druitt railway station. There is an express route that runs continuously and travels between Sydney and Parramatta in 55 minutes. It has a recently rebuilt interchange with Busways bus services that go to all the suburbs in the Mount Druitt area, Blacktown, and Glendenning.
The future Western Sydney Airport and Mount Druitt will be connected by the government’s North South Line, which will also provide access to the South West.
The Council is starting a feasibility study to see if it is feasible to build new light rail that would connect Mount Druitt to the other Blacktown Shire areas.
