North St.Marys MAXI CAB TAXI SERVICES SYDNEY

Located in western Sydney, North St Marys is one of the suburbs that make up the city of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The City of Penrith administers the area known as North St Marys, which is 47 kilometres west of Sydney’s central business district. The neighbourhood of North St Marys is an expansion of the neighbouring community of St Marys.

The Gomerrigal-Tongarra, a Darug-speaking people, inhabited what is now North St Marys before European contact. They followed customary regulations that traced their origins to the Dreamtime and continued to control their hunter-gatherer way of existence. Bark houses (or “gunyahs”) were their commonplace dwellings. They subsisted mostly on natural flora and animals, hunting kangaroos and emus for food and gathering yams, berries, and other tubers. There are no known carvings or rock paintings in the area, therefore very little is known about their culture. The smallpox and conflicts with the British settlers drastically diminished their numbers by 1816.

In 1820, Phillip Parker King, the son of the governor, received the first land grant in the region. He gave it the name Triangle Farm, but he didn’t do much else with it, so it sat mostly undeveloped until the 1940s, when the Commonwealth Government bought it to build homes for workers at the St. Marys munitions factory.
