North Willoughby is a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, nine kilometres north of the Sydney central business district and inside the City of Willoughby’s local government area. Willoughby and Willoughby East are two distinct neighbourhoods.
A small collection of stores and eateries are located on Penshurst Street, along with the local landmark Willoughby Hotel. The hotel was characterised as “one of the best structures in the northern suburbs” when it opened in 1899. It was nearly destroyed in 1940, but survived and underwent a significant restoration in 1988.
Rosewall, a two-story sandstone residence in the Georgian style, is another notable structure. It was constructed in the 1880s for the Forsyth family, who operated local tanneries. Rosewall and Forsyth Streets are named after the residence and its occupants.
The High Street Markets in High Street have a variety of local shops, such as Harris Farm Markets, cafes, takeout food establishments, and restaurants.
