Within the City of Blacktown local government area, Oakhurst is a suburb of Sydney in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is located 46 kilometres west of Sydney’s CBD. It is a component of Western Sydney’s Greater Region.
A brand-new development called Hassall Grove was being built to the north of Oakhurst by 1991. In contrast, Cook Rd was deemed inadequate by both developers and the neighbourhood to handle the extra traffic that a new suburb would bring. As a result, Cook Road’s renovated section was combined with Luxford Road’s enlarged south-easterly section to form the new highway for the region. Developers concurred that a better boundary between Oakhurst and the new development would be formed by the new road.

As a result, the tiny number of homes along Southee Circuit, Bancroft Street, Westcott Place, Ophelia Place, Rotuma Street, Appletree Grove, and Dimascio Place that had already been built or were under construction were formally detached from Hassall Grove and included into Oakhurst. Large sections of Cook Road that were not used for the Luxford Rd extension were either shut down to traffic or revitalised with grass and playground equipment for kids.
Plumpton Marketplace, the neighbourhood shopping centre in Oakhurst, is home to well-known merchants and businesses like Woolworths, BigW, the Commonwealth Bank, and Flight Centre. On the other hand, Hassall Grove Plaza gives locals access to a greengrocer, bakery, hair salons, and takeaway stores.

The primary educational institution in Oakhurst, Richard Johnson Anglican School educates children from Kindergarten through Year 12.
The Plumpton/Oakhurst Soccer Club inc., a local soccer team that plays at Hanna Reserve on Hyatts Road, shares a field with Oakhurst. The group is a member of the Blacktown & Districts Soccer Football Association Inc., which organises annual competitions involving teams from neighbouring districts and suburbs and players of various ages.
