Oatlands is a suburb of Sydney, located in the Australian territory of New South Wales. It is located in the City of Parramatta local government region, 23 kilometers northwest of Sydney’s central business district. Oatlands are regarded as a component of the Hills District.

The suburb stretches from Kissing Point Road and Vineyard Creek in the southeast to Pennant Hills Road and the North Rocks neighborhood in the northwest.

The name was initially given to Oatlands House, one of the first houses erected in the Parramatta neighborhood by Percy Simpson in the 1830s. It has been hypothesized that the name refers to the first oat planting in Australia, although this cannot be proved. Rather, Oatlands Park in England, which was close to the property of Lord Dundas, for whom the neighboring neighborhood was called, appears to be the source of the name. James Bettington bought the land in 1840 and started raising sheep on it. Oatlands House is now a party venue, and the 1931-opened Oatlands Golf Course is situated in the surrounding area. In 1991, Oatlands was classified as a new suburb. The location had previously been referred to as Dundas West.
On July 3, 1967, the Dundas West Post Office opened. In 1993, it adopted the name Oatlands.

There is a post office, supermarket, fruit shop, liquor store, chicken shop, hair salon, butcher, real estate, doctor’s office, chemist, and news agency in the tiny shopping area.

The Oatlands House, a historic building situated on the grounds of the Oatlands Golf Club, is located in Oatlands. The New South Wales Women’s Open is one of the yearly tournaments that draw media coverage and professional golfers to the region. Laura Davies, Lydia Ko, who won this competition in 2012 while still an amateur and became the youngest person to win a professional tournament, Caroline Hedwall of Sweden in 2013, and Joanna Klatten of France in 2014 are among the winners. Brett Ogle, a former touring professional golfer, and current media personality have nominated The Club as Australia’s best par 70 courses. The Club is well known in the Sydney area.
In addition, Peter Lonard, touring pro and multiple Australian Open and Australian PGA champion, is a graduate of the club’s cadet program. Additionally, he completed his PGA training there. After recovering from Ross River Fever, he spent a few years working as a club professional.

Burnside, where Sir James Burns’ children’s houses were built in 1911, is another region that is included in Oatlands. The region is still the home of Uniting Care Burnside, a subsidiary of the Uniting Church in Australia, even though it is no longer operated as a children’s home. The school, which was constructed on the trust-owned property, also goes by that name. Mostly new housing complexes, including Burnside Gardens Estate, are found in the region.
