Penrith is a western suburb of Sydney in the Australian state of New South Wales. Located 50 kilometres west of Sydney’s central business centre on the banks of the Nepean River, on the edges of the Cumberland Plain, this area is known to locals as “The Riff.” It stands at an impressive 25 metres above ground.

As the seat of Penrith City Council, Penrith serves as the administrative hub for the City of Penrith. Geographical Names Board of New South Wales also recognises it as one of only four cities in the Greater Sydney metropolitan area.
The Penrith train station is a prominent stop on the North Shore, Northern & Western Line of the Sydney Trains system. It is a stop on the intercity Blue Mountains Line and has frequent services to and from the City.

At Penrith, there is a bus interchange with route 70 of the Nightride Bus that will take you to and from the train station.
The Great Western Highway connects St. Marys and Mount Druitt with Penrith. Those travelling from further east should take either the The Northern Road or Mulgoa Road exits off the M4 Western Motorway. From the western side of the Blue Mountains, the Great Western Highway provides the most direct route to the eastern side of the state. From the south, you can take The Northern Road or Mulgoa Road; from the north, you can take either Castlereagh Road or Richmond Road; and from the north and south, you can take Westlink M7 or the M4 Western Motorway.
