Prestons is a suburb of Sydney that is located in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 37 kilometres south-west of the central business district of Sydney and falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Liverpool in terms of its local government.

The name “Prestons” comes from a local Irish family that, back in the 1910s, operated a modest post office on the northwest corner of Romana Square. The family’s maiden name was Preston, and they were well-known throughout the small community for their friendliness and generosity toward those in need, donating both food and household items to those who were struggling. Because of this, their name eventually became synonymous with the name of the post office, and in 1972, it was given the honour of becoming the official name of the suburb.

Dalmeny and Prestons Public School are two of the schools that can be found in the neighbourhood. The William Carey Christian School, Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School, and the institution formerly known as Sule College but now called Amity College are all examples of reputable private schools.

The M5 South Western Motorway, which originates in the city, merges into the Hume Motorway, which leads toward Canberra and Melbourne, and the Westlink M7, which travels toward Mount Druitt and northern Sydney. Prestons is located at an important road junction at this intersection. Camden Valley Way serves as a connection between Prestons, Liverpool, and Camden in addition to being able to provide access to all three of the aforementioned roadways. Bernera Road also provides direct access to the M7 motorway. Trains departing from Glenfield and Edmondson Park stations make their way into the city via Granville and the Airport and stop at Edmondson Park. There are three different bus services that Busabout operates to get passengers to Liverpool. The 850, which is one of these, connects to Camden as well.

Amalfi Park has served as the home ground for the Prestons Cricket Club (Hornets) ever since the club was established in 1968. During the warm months, Prestons Robins Little Athletics meets at the brand new park on Ash Road on both Wednesday and Friday evenings.
