St Leonards is a neighbourhood on Sydney’s lower North Shore in the Australian state of New South Wales. St Leonards is located 5 kilometres north-west of Sydney’s central business district, straddling the municipal boundaries of Municipality of Lane Cove, North Sydney Council, and City of Willoughby.

St Leonards was named after Thomas Townshend, 1st Viscount Sydney of St Leonards, an English nobleman. Originally, St Leonards encompassed the entire region between the current district of North Sydney and Gore Hill. In 1883, St Leonards was the location of what is now North Sydney.

St Leonards was the location of the North Shore line’s first and oldest station, which opened in 1890 and originally served just Hornsby.
On the Pacific Highway, the Gore Hill cemetery was founded in 1868 and served as the primary burial ground until its closure in 1975. The Department of Local Government and Lands, Willoughby Municipal Council, and the Heritage Council of New South Wales continue to manage it as a heritage property.

St Leonards has a commercial centre that complements Chatswood, Lane Cove, and North Sydney as one of the business hubs on Sydney’s North Shore. St Leonards features one of Sydney’s suburban skyscraper clusters, with key offices for numerous large firms, such as Toyota Financial Services, IBM, Lenovo, Oporto Chicken & Burgers, Manchester United, 3, Savvytel, CIMIC Group, Forum Group, Macquarie Radio Network, and Channel 31 TV studio. Herbert Street is the location of the Information Technology Directorate of the NSW Department of Education and Training. Current Fox Sports television studios are located in Gore Hill Technology Park.

The North Shore & Western Line of Sydney Trains serves the St. Leonards station. The Pacific Highway is the primary thoroughfare within the suburb.
St Leonards has become somewhat of a home for rugby union, with the previous headquarters of the Australian Rugby Union (2007-2018) relocating from North Sydney to St Leonards. St. Leonards is home to the Northern Suburbs Rugby Club’s clubhouse, which features the Cabana Bar and Lounge.

Gore Hill Oval is the home field of the North Shore Bombers Australian rules football club.
