Sun Valley is an address in the city of Blue Mountains in the Australian state of New South Wales. Sun Valley is located between Warrimoo and Valley Heights in the lower mountains and is rich in geological and historical value.

This ancient volcanic vent from the early Jurassic period was inhabited by local Aborigines for thousands of years. It is believed that Dharugand Gundungurra people initially crossed and inhabited the region. In the valley, stone artefacts and cave paintings have been discovered.

Sun Valley, named so in the 1960s to correspond with the residential subdivision, has also been known as The Valley, Fitzgerald’s Valley, Valley Flats, and Deane’s Valley, and was utilised by explorers crossing the Great Dividing Range throughout the 1800s. The combination of waterways, fertile soil, open woodland, and native grassland was excellent for the farming, grazing, and logging practises of the period. The valley was previously inhabited by wild brumbies and is noted for its superb stands of mountain blue gum trees, picturesque scenery, and walking trails in and around Long Angle Gully and the historically significant “Warrimoo Pool” site. In the mountains, artefacts dating back to the early 1800s are known to exist. The region was frequently utilised by bushwalking clubs and scouts in the middle of the twentieth century.

Sun Valley continues to be a tiny, semi-rural hamlet with a pony club, a local vegetable store, and a critical fire trail system used to safeguard the region.
