Sydney Olympic Park Maxi/Taxi service to Sydney Airport

The massive sports and entertainment complex that is known as Sydney Olympic Park may be found in the western part of the city of Sydney. It is also an official suburb of Greater Sydney, although the official name of the suburb is Sydney Olympic Park, even though most people just call it Olympic Park. The City of Parramatta Council administers the area that contains Sydney Olympic Park, which can be found around 15 kilometres to the west of the core business centre of Sydney.

In preparation for the Olympic Games in the year 2000, the area was renovated. The facilities that were built are still being used for a variety of sporting, musical, and cultural events. Some examples of these events include the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Sydney Festival, Stereosonic, Big Day Out, and Soundwave, as well as a number of world-class sporting fixtures. In addition, the area has a large amount of parklands and commercial development. Historically, the region was a part of the suburb of Homebush Bay; however, in 2009, it was officially recognised as a suburb in its own right. The term “Stadium Australia” and “the Olympic Park area as a whole” are still referred to by their colloquial names, “Homebush,” and “Olympic Park,” respectively.

More than 5,000 events take place at the park every year, including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, the Supanova Pop Culture Expo, and matches for the Rugby Union, National Rugby League, Australian Football League, and Australian Rugby League played at ANZ Stadium. At the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre, which also plays host to athletics and swimming competitions, as well as boxing matches and concerts throughout the year, the annual Sydney International is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world. It is the location of the Big Day Out music festival and has served as the stage for free performances held in the open air as part of the Sydney Festival. Some examples of these performances include Movies in the Overflow and Music by Moonlight.

The Newington Armory has in the past served as the location for the music festivals known as “Great Escape” and “Acoustica at the Armory,” both of which took place over the course of the Easter holiday weekend. Both of these events have since been discontinued. The baseball stadium that was used in the 2000 Olympics has since been renamed the Sydney Showground; the venue that was formerly known as the Sydney Superdome is now called the Allphones Arena; and the Olympic Stadium has been renamed the ANZ Stadium, following in the footsteps of its former sponsor Telstra. The latter two venues are now very successful in their own right, with the stadium serving as the venue for 49 major sporting events in 2007 and the Arena being the world’s second-highest grossing venue of its type in the world in 2005 – In that year, it was second only to Madison Square Garden in New York City as the most profitable venue of its kind in the world.

On August 8, 2009, a funeral service was held for the Lin family at Sydney Olympic Park. Brenda Lin, who is the only living member of the family, was present for the service.
The streets of the Olympic precinct were used on multiple occasions (between 2009 and 2016) for the running of the Sydney 500 V8 Supercar race. In addition, the EB Games Expo was held at The Sydney Showgrounds, which is located within Sydney Olympic Park, between the years of 2012 and present day.

The Olympic Park station and the Olympic Park railway line both provide transportation to and from the Sydney Olympic Park. In addition, there are frequent ferry services to the nearby Sydney Olympic Park ferry wharf, which can be found at the end of Hill Road. This wharf is serviced by Sydney Ferries, which travels to and from various locations around Sydney Harbour.

Bus services serving the Sydney Olympic Park are operational during large events.
In 2015, it was revealed that the Parramatta Light Rail project would include two lines. In the preliminary designs, there was a line that was supposed to run between Westmead and Strathfield, and it was supposed to go through Sydney Olympic Park. In 2017, the plans for this route underwent a revamp and were shortened. The revised line will end at Sydney Olympic Park rather than going on to Strathfield after the redesign is complete.
The path that the light rail line was originally going to take has been rerouted to make way for the Sydney Metro West, which is a proposed metro line that will run between the Central Business District and Westmead. The line was going to feature a station at the Sydney Olympic Park, as was stated in the announcement that took place in 2016.
