Warwick Farm Maxi/Taxi service to Sydney Airport

Warwick Farm is located in the metropolitan area of Sydney, in the Australian state of New South Wales. Warwick Farm is situated in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is a part of the South-western Sydney region. It is situated approximately 30 kilometres to the west of the Sydney central business district.

Following the defeat of the Irish Rebellion in 1798, political prisoners of Irish descent were moved here and occupied this region. Land grants of 40 acres (160,000 m2) were awarded to transportees in the year 1809, and the area was referred to as Irish Town for a period of time. John Hawley Stroud, who was in charge of the Liverpool Orphans School at the time, was the recipient of a grant in 1804 for the land that is now occupied by Warwick Farm Racecourse. He named his property after the city of Warwick in England.

The Warwick Farm Racecourse may be found on the opposite side of the Georges River from the river’s mouth. In front of the Peter Warren auto dealership, which is located on the Hume Highway, there is a sizeable replica of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Apprentices from the Royal Australian Navy worked on it during the halftime break of the Rugby League Grand Final in 1987 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. After the match, Peter Warren made the purchase and took possession of it.

Between the years 1960 and 1973, the location known as Warwick Farm Raceway served as a venue for auto racing. It was located within the grounds of the Warwick Farm Racecourse, and it played host to a number of important events, including the Australian Grand Prix. The inaugural major event held at the track, which took place in January 1961 and was a round of the Tasman Series, was attended by an audience of 65,000 fans. On the other hand, operation of the circuit was costly because two “crossings” had to be constructed over the horse racing track. As a result, large crowds were required in order to keep racing going.

Because it was getting financial backing from the TAB by the beginning of the 1970s, the Australian Jockey Club (AJC) did not require the relatively poor returns from motor racing and did not wish to enhance the circuit.
Following the refusal of the Confederation of Australian Motorsport’s request to have Armco fence installed around the circuit by the AJC, the circuit was closed.

On July 15, 1973, Peter Brock triumphed in the final major competition, which was a round of the Australian Touring Car Championship. Brock was the winner of this race.

Within the Sydney Trains network, the Warwick Farm railway station may be reached via the Inner West & Leppington, Bankstown, and Cumberland lines. Before it was closed in August of 1990, a branch line served the Warwick Farm Racecourse, where races were held, for race day trains. The Hume Highway is the most important thoroughfare that runs through the neighbourhood. Chipping Norton is connected to the rest of the county by the William Long Bridge, which spans the Georges River.
