Waterfall is a tiny southern Sydney neighborhood in the Australian state of New South Wales. Sutherland Shire is 38 kilometres south of Sydney’s core business area.
Waterfall is bounded to the north by the suburb of Heathcote and, further north, by Engadine; to the east by The Royal National Park; and to the west by Heathcote National Park. Helensburgh is the next town south when travelling. Waterfall marks the Sutherland Shire’s southern border. The elevation is roughly 200 metres above sea level.
There are just six streets in Waterfall. Its local school has only two rooms, with kindergarten through second grade in one room and third through sixth grade in the other. The bushland provides a natural setting for the little suburb, from which walking paths go to the neighbouring national parks. Behind the dammed lake to the west lies Mount Westmacott.
