For a long time, people went on shopping trips to the Wentworthville area, where factory outlets sold goods directly to the public. The Bonds factory on Dunmore Street sold clothes directly to the public. The clothes factory shut down.
The North Shore, Northern & Western Line of Sydney Trains connects Wentworthville to Penrith and Richmond in the west. This line stops at the Wentworthville train station. Most trains go north to North Sydney, Chatswood, Hornsby, and Berowra after they reach the city. The Cumberland Line, which goes from Blacktown to Campbelltown, also stops at the station. The trip to Sydney’s central business district (CBD) usually takes 35 minutes.
The first major Tangara accident, a derailment that happened on December 27, 1989, happened at the Wentworthville station.
