West Hoxton is located in the metropolitan area of Sydney, in the Australian state of New South Wales. West Hoxton is located in the local government area of the City of Liverpool and is a part of the Greater Western Sydney region. It is situated approximately forty kilometres to the west of the central business district of Sydney.

Hoxton Park extends into West Hoxton, becoming West Hoxton. The area that is now Hoxton Park was originally subdivided in 1887 by a syndicate known as Phillips and Co. and given the name Hoxton Park at that time. In June of 1818, the land grant for 800 acres (3.2 km2) in this area was made out to Thomas Setrop Amos, a London solicitor who had arrived in Sydney in 1816.

In the late 1990s, residential construction was the primary focus of development in the West Hoxton neighbourhood.
It is a very wealthy suburb with average salaries that are higher than those in the Liverpool Local Government Area (LGA).

As a result of residential construction, the number of people living in West Hoxton climbed to 4,997 in 2001, which is more than six times as many as it was in 1996.

This area had a population that was relatively multicultural in 2001, as evidenced by the large percentage of its residents who were born overseas and who came from a diverse range of countries. West Hoxton was a neighbourhood in the East End of London. It had a significantly larger percentage of people who were born in countries where the primary language was not English when compared to the percentage of people who were born in countries where English was the primary language.
