In 1837, the school moved to where the junior school is now, and in 1875, it was given to the care of the Marist Brothers. This means that Parramatta Marist is Australia’s oldest Catholic school.
The North Shore, Northern & Western Line of Sydney Trains goes through the Westmead train station.
In 1861, the Western railway line was built through the suburb to connect Parramatta to Blacktown. Local people were able to open a train station in Westmead in April 1893 after they petitioned for it.
The North-West T-way is a bus route that takes people from Parramatta and The Hills District to Westmead.
A light rail and a metro will be used for public transportation in the future. The Parramatta Light Rail project, which will have two lines, was announced in 2015. Both lines will end at Westmead. From there, they will go to Carlingford and Sydney Olympic Park. In 2018, it was said that the end of the Sydney Metro West line would be in Westmead.
