Woodford MAXI CAB TAXI SERVICES SYDNEY

Woodford is a town in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, located around 90 kilometres west of Sydney. It is located 609 metres above sea level. It is located on the Great Western Highway and has a railway station (built in 1868 as Buss’s Platform) on the Main Western railway line, which is served by Blue Mountains services provided by NSW TrainLink. At the time of the 2016 census, Woodford had 1,934 residents.

Originally, the location was known as Twenty Mile Hollow. In the 1830s, The Woodman inn was constructed there. Ten years later, the inn was renamed the King’s Arms, and after 1855, it became generally known as Buss’s Inn. Later, Sydney businessman Alfred Fairfax transformed the structure into a private residence and christened it Woodford House. In 1871, the railroad station was renamed Woodford. Woodford House eventually became a private boys’ school and is now a historic landmark.
Chris Parr, Woodford’s station master at the time, buried a time capsule commemorating the station’s 100th anniversary on 14 December 2002. He gathered objects from the people for a time capsule that will be opened after a century.

Mountain bikers and hikers are familiar with Woodford as the starting point for the renowned Oaks and St. Helena courses. It is also the terminus of the Andersons and Ingar fire paths, which are popular among mountain bikers and hikers. In June or July, Careflight International conducts the Woodford to Glenbrook Classic, a cycling and running race from the Woodford railway station to the Euroka picnic area at Glenbrook in the Blue Mountains National Park, in order to raise funds. The Classic is 25 kilometres long and follows the Oaks and Bennetts Ridge fire routes.

In places such as Murphys Glen and Wilson Glen (on the south side) and Mabel Falls Reserve, there are chances for bushwalking and photography (on the north side).
